JCB, MEMI participated in the Riadah Berbasikal Semangat Kebangsaan 2019

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 24 February 2019 - 

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam consented to participate in the cycling event “Riadah Berbasikal Semangat Kebangsaan 2019” at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien in Bandar Seri Begawan. Also in attendance were His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen, His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Wakeel and His Royal Highness Princess Ameerah Wardatul Bolkiah.

Riadah Berbasikal Semangat Kebangsaan 2019 was held during the “Bandarku Ceria Programme” in conjunction with the 35th National Day celebration. It aims to promote healthy culture and national unity through sporting activies.

The event was attended by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md. Hussein, Minister of Energy and Industry. Also present were Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Hai Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry; Yang Mulia Awang Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya, Permanent Secretary (Energy); Yang Mulia Pg Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary (Industry); Yang Mulia Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Corporate and Industry); Yang Mulia Pengiran Haji Jamra Weira bin Pengiran Haji Petra, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Power and Energy); Officers and Staff of the Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry and the Department of Electrical Services.

The event started with a 11.5 Kilometre mass cycling activity led by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The cycling activities  covered a distance of 11.5 kilometre, passing the Jalan Pretty, Jalan Elizabeth II, Jalan Majlis Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien, Jalan Kianggeh, Jalan Sekolah, Jalan Kumbang Pasang, Jalan Gadong, Jalan Perdana Menteri and Jalan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha.

Several events were also held concurrently with the “Riadah Berbasikal Semangat Kebangsaan 2019” including the exhibitions by Government and Private Agencies. The Ministry of Energy, Manpower and Industry participated in the exhibition, showcasing three Ministry’s services. On the Energy side, the Department of Electrical Services displayed its interactive Energy Saving Kiosk in supporting the initiative to educate and inform the public on the monthly household energy consumption.

In addition to the interactive Energy Saving Kiosk, the Ministry through the National Standards Centre showcased information on standards or the Piawai Brunei Darussalam and its importance to industries namely food, construction and health. The exhibitions also include local products that have undergone standards processes, verification, auditing and certification.

JobCentre Brunei’s services under the Ministry’s Manpower portfolio also took part during the exhibition. JobCentre Brunei showcased their online portal and provided information on registration processes and other available services that can be found via the portal itself. The objective of the interactive exhibition from JobCentre Brunei is to increase public awareness of the system and application available to facilitate local registered job seekers to find employment through the JobCentre portal.

The “Riadah Berbasikal Semangat Kebangsaan 2019” was jointly organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; the Ministry of Home Affairs; the Ministry of Religious Affairs; the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism; the Ministry of Defence; the Ministry of Health; the Ministry of Education; the Ministry of Transportation and Info-Communications together with involvement of other ministries and the Brunei Darussalam Cycling Federation.
